National Pain Week - 2023
Provocatus supports National Pain Week (24 - 30 July). This important week is about recognising the toll that chronic pain can have on those closest to us. Chronic pain affects not only the person suffering but also their friends, family, and communities. It’s a reminder to raise awareness and offer support to the millions of Australians impacted by persistent pain.
Paul Warren knows about pain. An Afghanistan veteran and Veteran Access Scheme ambassador, Paul lost his right leg in 2009 when an improvised explosive device detonated during a patrol in Uruzgan Province's Baluchi Valley. Since then, Paul has faced daily challenges with nerve pain and the struggle for restful sleep. He turned to comprehensive health support, including approaches that go beyond traditional methods, to manage his pain and improve his quality of life.
Paul’s story is just one among the 3.6 million Australians living with chronic pain every day. For veterans like him, chronic pain can be a lasting reminder of their service, with physical and emotional scars that require tailored approaches for effective management. Veterans often endure higher rates of chronic pain due to injuries, and finding the right support is essential for them to reclaim a fulfilling life.
At Provocatus, we believe in providing accessible, quality healthcare for veterans, especially those dealing with the lasting impact of service-related injuries. Our Veteran Access Scheme is designed to support veterans with personalised options for pain management and other health needs. By working with healthcare professionals, Provocatus aims to deliver solutions that not only address pain but also enhance the overall wellbeing of veterans and their families.
