DVA Billing for GPs: Dr Kerry Summerscales & Dr Michael Mumford feature in October’s Community of Practice Meet up

On Wednesday the 23rd of October at 7pm AEDT, Provocatus held the October community of practice meet up featuring Dr Kerry Summerscales, a renowned Specialist GP with over 30+ years of experience in the Australian Army and medical settings. Discussions were focused on ethical and appropriate use of DVA billing numbers, and overcoming challenges in Veteran Clinical Care.

Dr Kerry Summerscales prides herself on being a strong advocate for Veterans health and wellbeing and educating clinicians in understanding the needs of their Veteran patients and overcoming hurdles in clinical care.

The Community of Practice Group started in 2023, to bring together a select group of GP’s and prescribers from across the country in an open forum to discuss Veteran Health Care.

With the recent release of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide report, it is even more critical that GPs, as the first and often last point of contact for veterans, are informed in best practices, procedures and policies that affect their veteran patients.
