Veterans' Health Week movie night: Keeping connected at Coledale RSL

On the 17th of October 2024, as part of Veterans' Health Week, Provocatus hosted a special movie night at the Coledale RSL, featuring the iconic film Black Hawk Down. With the NSW south coast waves crashing in the background, the event was a great way to reflect the theme of this year’s Veterans' Health Week — "Keeping Connected."

Veterans Health Week Keeping Connected

Veterans' Health Week is all about raising awareness of the health and well-being of veterans across Australia. It encourages veterans to take part in activities that support their mental, physical, and emotional health. This year’s theme, "Keeping Connected," focused on how important it is for veterans to stay socially connected with their mates, family, and the wider community.

At Provocatus, as a veteran owned and operated organisation, we know how much these connections matter and decided to hold the movie night at Coledale RSL as part of our Veterans Health Week activities.

The film Black Hawk Down highlights the challenges and bonds that come with serving in the defence force. For many in the audience, it was more than just watching a film—it was a chance to think about shared experiences of service, mateship, and overcoming tough times, both during and after service life.

Coldedale RSL Movie Night

Veterans' Health Week is an important reminder of how crucial staying connected is, especially for veterans who may feel isolated after leaving the defence force. Events like this give veterans the chance to reconnect with old mates and make new friends, helping build a stronger community. Whether through a friendly chat or simply enjoying the film together, the night showed just how valuable those connections are.

At Provocatus, we are committed to supporting the health and well-being of Australian veterans. Events like this movie night are one way we help create opportunities for veterans to connect and support each other. As part of our ongoing mission, we continue to advocate for better health outcomes and quality of life for veterans.

Veterans' Health Week is a strong reminder that no one should face challenges alone, and we’re proud to be part of this initiative.
