New Medicinal Cannabis Framework

Provocatus is offering guidance, solutions and support for veterans, prescribers and pharmacies affected by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ New Cannabis Framework and its changes to regulations on prescribing medical cannabis for veterans.

Effective from 16 February, the DVA Framework aims to improve patient safety through the mandate of in-person consultations for first-time prescriptions, restrictions on THC doses and limits on the number and type of cannabis medications available to DVA patients.

We welcome the measures outlined by DVA’s Framework, as we believe organisations operating healthcare have a responsibility to protect vulnerable patient groups. Provocatus Support

As a leader in veteran healthcare, we are ready to assist with GPs who wish to expand their knowledge to support patients with medicinal cannabis treatments if their prescribing doctor is no longer able to provide care following these regulatory changes.

The products available in the Veteran Access Scheme range remain available whilst the ‘grandfathering’ transition is in place until August. We are also in the process of making some modifications to the range to ensure all products meet the new requirements.
